Review by Pat Stanton

The Pittsburgh concert last night was energetic and enjoyable with both Pete and Roger in top form. The fans were enthusiastic although I heard some people grumbling about how fans around them were just sitting the whole time and not into the show. Everyone around me was totally into the show. Roger sounded wonderful all night. His Love Reign was magical until he broke the mood by starting to laugh at the end as he went very very high and then finished like Johnny Cash. Pete ended up on his knees as he went so low. Too bad I never take pictures during that song. Roger was the chatty one last night, telling the story about His first marriage when he lived in a 6th floor walk up and looked down on the Van, wishing he could live in it rather than with his wife and infant baby. He chose the Van and the band, which is his story that he frequently tells prior to The Kids Are Alright, as he relates that he always thought that Pete wrote for him. Pete related that YBYB was begun in Pittsburgh being inspired by a young woman who he was temporarily in love with at the time. The band was very tight all night. Roger was all over the stage and Pete was windmilling and jumping around like a man half his age. Both smiled and laughed a lot, with the fans and each other. Pete gave Roger a bear hug at the end. Both Roger and Pete thanked the local fans for supporting them all these years and for showing up when they finally got there on this tour. Roger again thanked everyone who supported him during his illness and gave his happy, healthy, lucky goodbye, adding it was sad to be leaving Pittsburgh for the last time. To which he added "We may be back, you never know" - and smiled broadly. Given the joy both are exhibiting while performing and that of the fans, we can only hope. Lots of Roger shots and some of Zak given my location.
