Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey took a brief break from their Moving On! tour last night to attend the opening of Pace Gallery’s brand new headquarters in the swank Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan, New York. A stripped down version of The Who performed an acoustic set of The Kids Are Alright, Pinball Wizard, Behind Blue Eyes, and Won’t Get Fooled Again outside on the balcony to an intimate crowd of 400 who were lucky enough to attend the opening.
Before the set, Pete and Roger unveiled the beautiful new album cover for their upcoming album titled “WHO”, which was designed by legendary British artist Sir Peter Blake, who is famous for designing the Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Who's Face Dances album covers.
The new WHO album will hit the stores on November 22. The first single off the album was released today, and is called “Ball and Chain”. This song was previously released as “Guantanamo” on Pete Townshend’s Truancy album in 2015, and has been a new addition to recent Who shows, along with “Hero Ground Zero”, which is also on the new album.
The Who also announced today that they will play a ten-date UK and Ireland tour in the spring of 2020.
